Soar Ship Brewing, run by Sonja Mitchell, launched the primary version of its Shore Depart beer in mid-2022. The second model within the Shore Depart collection, a bitter beer, fermented with berries, was launched in Could 2023.
In July 2023, Mitchell found that Brewdog had shared a picture of a quickly to launch Shore Depart beer with the proposed tagline, ‘It’s time to leap ship’.
The beer has not been withdrawn by Brewdog.
Mitchell stated: “I’m upset that regardless of contacting Brewdog immediately, I’ve been pressured down the authorized path to defend all that I and my group have constructed. We’ve put appreciable funding into the event of our Shore Depart collection of beers, from the creation of the beer itself to the branding, packaging and distribution.
