Scicchitano’s Pizzeria Berwick is an old style pizzeria that’s well-known for his or her “Doagie” sandwich. The Doagie is one thing of a spherical hoagie sandwich created from pizza dough. It comes with the whole lot you’d anticipate on a hoagie, besides that it’s spherical and sliced into 4 quarters. The sandwich will be in contrast in some ways to a muffaletta minus the olive salad.
Scicchitano’s oozes historic allure and quirkiness. The entrance of the pizzeria appears prefer it was both a fuel station or a financial institution at one time. Contained in the place is a throwback open house with tables to dine at, a case and freezer filled with pies and baked items, a deli counter displaying pizzas by the slice, and what appears to be an unlimited kitchen space within the again. I didn’t take a tour, however from my vantage level within the eating room, it regarded like there was some critical sq. footage to work with again there!
The Doagie bread was comfortable and spongy with a good crumb and a few chewiness to it. I ordered the Italian which featured cappicola, salami, pepperoni, provolone cheese, lettuce tomato, onion, and banana peppers (I added).
