That is our first outing with Lovatelli, a producer of each barbera and primitivo wines. This 2021 launch is a reasonably, clear, and approachable barbera, heavy on the nostril with its notes of rosemary and white pepper. Balanced on the palate — although a bit weedy — the cherry-focused fruit parts hold the wine on a fair keel, albeit resulting in a barely pruny end. Barely flabby, the wine would profit from a lift of acidity.
