From the bars at Asheville Correct and Little D’s, two locally-owned informal eating places in Asheville, NC, comes the right Lion’s Tail cocktail.
First showing in The Cafe Royal Cocktail Ebook, the basic Lion’s Tail took place throughout Prohibition within the Thirties and options allspice dram, a liqueur made with rum, pimento berries and spices, alongside bourbon, Angostura bitters, easy syrup, and recent lime juice. The Lion’s Tail is a singular drink that’s been largely missed till not too long ago.
Little D’s and Asheville Correct’s tackle the basic libation provides cardamon bitters, making it good for the winter season with wealthy, spiced, fragrant flavors!

Lion’s Tail
Elements
- 1 1/2 oz. Bourbon
- 1/2 oz. St. Elizabeth Allspice Dram
- 1/4 oz. Demerara Syrup
- 3/4 oz. Lime Juice
- 2 dashes Angostura Bitters
- 2 dashes Cardamom Bitters
Preparation
- Shake all elements.
- Pressure and pour right into a coupe glass.
- Garnish with a lemon twist.
